Report: Radical Christian Group, American Family Association Decides Some Universities Hostile Toward "Christian Values"
AFA doing what they do best: Perpetuating the Christian persecution myth
Report:
The extremist group American Family Association (AFA), headed by Donald E. Wildmon -- perhaps better said 'Wildman' -- reports, "The editor of a new college guide is warning parents against sending their children to what he calls some of the scariest university campuses in America -- schools across the country that are the most secular or the most hostile to Christian values." Universities considered to be "hostile to Christian values," are:
Brown, because of a supposed 'drug culture'; Colgate apparently, because it's President is a former professor in that evil 'Woman's Studies' department; but the evil of all evil Universities is Wesleyan. Why? The university is doing away with single sex dorms.
It is nearly impossible to take seriously anything the extremists at AFA have to say yet, millions in today's American society buy into the organizations insanity. So sensitive is the group to its known hatred toward the gay community, it feels the need to place a link on their site, which reads "Does AFA Hate Homosexuals?" There answer of course is well, they think it is 'no'. Actually they proclaim "absolutely not!" Then they follow it up with, "It is that love [of their neighbors, just like the bible says] that motivates us to expose the misrepresentation of the radical homosexual agenda and stop its spread though our culture."
Another link at AFA, the great and truest of true Americans that they are asks, "Does AFA Support Censorship?" Again, they say, "AFA does not support 'censorship,'" and then go right along and support censorship, "Our belief is that if we can encourage [bully] advertisers to sponsor only quality programming, then networks and producers will not have the financial encouragement to produce shows diametrically opposed to the traditional family."
As they point out on their site, 'censorship' is imposed by the government, but at AFA they've found a backdoor entrance into quasi-government censorship. The AFA and its affiliates are after all, bed buddies with the Republican National Committee and too, are likely recipients of Bush's US tax-payer supported religious programs. Money received by these groups is no doubt being spent to further their 'cultural' causes...including censorship.
Summary:
Many Republican affiliated groups like AFA -- FOX News chief among them -- enjoy producing and then nurturing the myth that there are many dark and evil, mostly 'Liberal', groups lurking in America. Groups, whose only purpose for being are to foment hostility toward "Christian values." Indeed, the AFA's biggest purpose for existing at all has been to create, and then propel the falsehood that Christians in America are somehow being persecuted. Of course, they have never been able to record anything like real 'persecution of Christians' having taken place in the United States.
For the AFA, 'persecution' means someone like the ACLU for instance, attempting to defend the Constitution's Separation of Church and State. Whenever anybody in America tries to defend the Constitution from groups like AFA, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, or Jerry Falwell; AFA and others scream 'persecution'. It isn't persecution. It is trying to protect the Constitution, and in doing ensure all religions -- Christianity too -- have a right to practice their faith free from government imposition.
Real persecution is what the AFA and their friends do to homosexuals and non-Christians. The hate AFA pretends not to engender toward the gay community, plays itself out in the form of homosexual people being beaten, sometimes to death, by those in total agreement with, and maybe even influenced by the AFA. That is persecution, and it is practiced most often today by the AFA and others associated with them. Not convinced? When was the last time someone in America was pummeled just because they happened to be Christian?
